The charming city of Raleigh, North Carolina offers southern hospitality, historic attractions, and loads of entertainment for travelers. Raleigh is the capitol city of North Carolina and is also called the “City of Oaks” because of the plentiful oak trees that dot the city. Raleigh is one of three cities that make up the Research Triangle area; Durham and Chapel Hill are the other two. Named after Sir Walter Raleigh, this North Carolina city has a historic neighborhood that has homes and office buildings dating back to the early part of the 20th century. Vacationers will find that there are exciting things to do in Raleigh when they arrive. Museums and local art exhibits can be found all over Raleigh for those desiring to explore this city’s fascinating history. The North Carolina Museum of Art and the North Carolina Museum of History are just a few of the local favorites. Theatre lovers can catch a show at the Raleigh Little Theatre, and the North Carolina Symphony plays at Meymandi Concert Hall, in case you want to listen to some beautiful music. Other things to do in Raleigh include shopping, attending one of the local festivals, such as the annual North Carolina State Fair, or taking a stroll through one of Raleigh’s state parks. Sports fans will also be enticed when they come to Raleigh. Raleigh is home to the Carolina Hurricanes, a local hockey team that has brought joy and excitement to the area’s sports fans.

Pizza lovers can also get their taste buds pumping with one of Raleigh’s many delicious pizza parlors. The California Pizza Kitchen and Andy’s Pizza are a couple of favorites among the locals. Courtney’s Restaurant is one of the best places to eat breakfast items, and service is simply outstanding on all levels.
